Fermilab ILC Plans (S Mishra) (Download PDF)

Mishra presented a concise overview of all of FNAL activities for the ILC. During the presentation some additional comments/questions were made:

  • SM noted that FNAL has positions available for Main Linac activities (the focus of FNAL work)
  • The clean-room string assembly infrastructure should be commissioned and ready for use by April this year. The first assembly planned is the 3.9GHz cavities for TTF (summer).
  • FNAL are expecting to be ready for the DESY ‘cryomodule kit’ by the Fall.
  • Cryomodule 2 will be a TTF type 3+ constructed from the current cavities available. These cavities are the current long TTF-type and are not suitable for the planned ILC-type CM (CM 3). The cold-mass and cryostat will be ordered from Zanon. SM pointed out that there is a time slot available in the schedule to do this, and will gain them additional string-assembly / system performance experience before construction of CM3 [response to question].
  • SM commented at the end of his presentation that there was a need for ‘good information exchange’ at the Bangalore workshop, and stressed the need for working sessions. He also noted that 75 people had registered for the GDE meeting
